Shabu-GO is a new Shabu Shabu restaurant that offers value-for-money individual sets starting from $9.90 (Chicken Set). The set comes with a choice of meat, veggie platter, Japanese vermicelli and one soup base (either Healthy Clear Dashi, Chicken Chintan or All-time Favourite Sukiyaki) You can top up $2 or $4 for more soup bases including Collagen-rich Paitan, Nourishing Ginseng Tonkotsu, Flavoursome Tomato, Refreshing Yuzu Dashi, Aromatic Mushroom, and Fiery Spicy.
We tried the Pork & Beef Set ($20) which came with an extra meat plate and a mini GO-Special cuttlefish paste with corn besides the normal set. The soup base we tried was Nourishing Ginseng Tonkotsu and Refreshing Yuzu Dashi. I prefer the Yuzu one for its refreshing taste while Ginseng soup was slightly bitter. We were served with Asian style dipping sauces, Sweet Lemongrass and Go-Signature(with coriander) but it would be great if there were Japanese-style dipping sauce such as ponzu or sesame.
There is a wide selection of ingredients to complete the hot pot meal. This includes sashimi-grade Hamachi (Yellowtale) ($8) and Salmon ($8), GO-Special Prawn Paste with Yuzu ($9), Cuttlefish Paste ($6) and Chicken Tsukune ($6) that was topped with a raw egg yolk. The Prawn Paste is a must try as it boasted smooth texture and citrusy notes from the yuzu.
I wouldn't say the food is very special, but if you are looking for hotpot options, this is definitely worth trying.
